Edit Imported Slides on Mentimeter

Importing your slides to Mentimeter is a great way to add engagement to an existing presentation file! However, when you import slides to Mentimeter, your slides import as image files, which can make it difficult to update your slides as needed. This article will provide you with some recommendations for how to mitigate this process, as well as how to replace slides one at a time.

General Recommendations

If you have content in your presentation that you know will need to be updated on a regular basis (i.e., a housekeeping slide where you list upcoming assignment due dates), consider making this a Text Content Slide within Mentimeter. Text Content Slides are easy to edit, and are a great choice for a slide that will need frequent edits semester to semester.

  1. To do this, enter the slide editor for the presentation you want to add a Text Content Slide to, and select + New Slide.
  2. Choose Text from the Content Slides section.
  3. Find the format that works best for you, and enter your information.

If you have many slides that need to be changed, or if you have completely changed your slide deck, but want to keep the activities you have already created, you can upload your new slides to a new presentation and copy the activities from your original presentation to the new one.

  1. To do this, create a new Menti presentation and upload your new/updated slide deck.
    • Make sure to give this new Menti presentation a name that you will remember!
  2. Open the original Menti presentation and find an activity that you would like to copy. While hovering over the activity in the slide overview panel on the left-hand side, select the 3-dot icon to the left of the slide for more options.
  3. From the drop-down menu, select Copy to another presentation.
  4. Select your new presentation from the list, determine where in the slide deck you would like the activity to be copied to (you can always move it around later), and select Copy.
    • It may take a minute for Mentimeter to actually copy over the activity, so if you don’t see the copied activity in your new presentation right away, try refreshing your screen after a few minutes.

Replace a Single Slide

If the above options are not ideal for you and you would just like to update a single slide:

  1. Go to your original project file (i.e., PowerPoint) and make the edits to the slide.
  2. Select File, then Save As (not Save).
  3. Select Browse.
  4. Select where you would like the file to be saved (i.e., Desktop) and give it a name.
  5. Underneath the file name should be a drop-down menu for Save as type. Select this drop-down menu and select JPEG File Interchange Format (*.jpg).
  6. Select Save.
  7. A pop-up should appear asking which slides you want to save. Select Just This Slide.
  8. Go to the slide in your Mentimeter presentation that you would like to replace.
  9. Using the slide editor on the right-hand side of the page, find the Image section and select Update image.
  10. On the pop-up that appears, select Back to upload in the bottom left-hand corner.
  11. Upload the JPEG file that you saved from your presentation.
  12. Select Save.
