At semester's end, faculty must input final grades into FastSuite for approval. Follow these simple steps to export grades from MyCanvas and import them into FastSuite.
Export Grades from MyCanvas
- Go to Grades in your MyCanvas course. Sort your gradebook by section if your course is cross-listed.
- In Gradebook, select View > Filters > Sections.
- Expand the All Sections dropdown and choose the first Section to export.
- Select Actions > Export Current Gradebook View.
- The system will prepare a .CSV file, which will be saved in your Downloads Folder.
Prepare the File in Excel
- Open the .csv file. Delete all columns except SIS ID and Unposted Final Score.
- Delete the Test Student and any blank headers such as the ‘read only line’.
- Save the file as an Excel Workbook (.xlsx), e.g., “Winter 24 Accounting 1 Section 1”.
- Repeat these steps for all current semester courses and any other sections of a MyCanvas cross-listed course.
Import Grades into FastSuite
- Login to MyMohawk and access FastSuite from the Faculty tab.
- Go to Student Reporting and select student grades then enter grades.
- From the dropdown list, select the course you wish to import grades into.
- At the bottom of the page, select Import and browse to the excel file (.xlsx) saved in the previous step.
- The system will ask which Excel sheet you would like to import. Click Next on this window.
- Now you need to tell FastSuite which columns in your Excel spreadsheet match which item in the FastSuite grade sheet. Uncheck Letter Grade and change the drop down for the Student and Percent to match the Excel sheet.
- Once the items are aligned, click Import. When complete you will be brought to a screen that looks like this:
- The system auto-populates both the letter and percentage grade. Take a few moments to make sure the grades are correct before selecting Submit for Approval.
