COMMS How To

COMMS 3.0 Algonquin College has updated the section names (Equivalencies, Delivery Format, Course learning Outcomes and Elements of Performance). If you have already submitted your course outline for approval and moved the Delivery Format information to the Course-Related Information section don’t worry your information will be automatically moved to Delivery Format section again. Please leave the Delivery Format in Delivery Format section.

Process for Review and Approval

The system can be access through the link in MyMohawk, Faculty, Course Outlines.

  1. Faculty will access COMMS through MyMohawk and make edits to assigned course outlines. If new faculty are to be assigned as course owners, please submit a list ASAP or program owners can do this.  In the same way, if program owners are to be changed, please advise Jaspreet who will make those changes or the Associate Dean can also log in and make the change.
  2. Once faculty have completed their edits, click submit, course outline will then go to the program owner, who will then review and submit to the Associate Dean for approval. Please note, once submitted, no further edits can be done, unless the AD returns for editing.
  3. Once approved, the course outline will be automatically uploaded to MyCanvas. This is a new feature in COMMS 3 platform and makes it easier for faculty, but, it is essential that all course outlines are approved to ensure the outline shared with students is up to date and accurate.

Kindly review and encourage course outlines are completed and approved on, or before, Friday August 22, 2025 to ensure a smooth roll-over. For programs that are part of a partnership delivery (Six Nations Polytechnic and triOS P3) these deadlines may be sooner to facilitate partners the opportunity to see course changes in advance. We will be in touch with the ADs of impacted program areas.
