Getting Started

About

Padlet is an interactive platform for multimedia-based discussion boards that enables you to have dynamic, engaging conversations with your learners. Choose a "Sectioned" board to have learners post their responses within specific categories to help organize the content, share specific sections with specific individuals/groups to support groupwork, or leave the board open and share with the entire group. Enrich your conversations with text, images, videos, polls, and more.

Access
We are currently hosting a Padlet pilot project where faculty, staff, and students can access a licensed account during the trial period. Please note that even if the decision is made not to continue with licensed Padlet accounts, Padlet allows individuals to create 3 boards on a free account, so you will still be able to use the content you create! Faculty and staff can secure a licensed Padlet account by following these steps:
  1. Login at: Padlet
    • Note: This page will say "Student", that is okay!
  2. Choose Sign Up With Microsoft
  3. Use your MohawkID and password to sign in

Details
Enhance audience discussion with Padlet, whether synchronously during teaching sessions or team meetings, or asynchronously. Utilize its diverse multimedia responses and wide variety of settings to engage your audience in a collaborative conversation.

User Participation

Participants can use their smartphones or laptops to submit responses. Responses are submitted and viewed in real time; however, the board owner has the option to enable a setting which requires them to approve posts before they can be seen by users. Learners can engage with a Padlet board by scanning a QR code, following a link provided by their educator, or engaging with a board that has been embedded (i.e., in MyCanvas). Find the sharing information for the whole board by selecting the arrow icon on the right-hand side and navigating to the Share section across the top of the pop-out. Links and QR codes can also be shared to only a specific section of the board, making Padlet an ideal platform for guiding small group conversations. These can be found by selecting the 3 dots beside a section title and selecting Copy Breakout Link.

MyCanvas
Padlet isn’t integrated with MyCanvas. However, you can embed a Padlet Board into a MyCanvas page using the iframe HTML code by following the steps below:
  1. Open the Padlet board, select the arrow icon on the right-hand side, and select Share
  2. Select Embed in Your Blog or Website, then Copy Board Embed Code
  3. Navigate to MyCanvas and open the page where you wish to insert the board, then select Edit.
  4. Choose the cloud icon on the editing ribbon at the top of the page, then paste the embed code from Padlet into the pop-up and select Submit.
  5. Save the MyCanvas page. Your board should then appear on the MyCanvas page along with the live results.

Accessibility

Padlet incorporates features like screen reader support, keyboard navigation, alternative text, and captions to enhance access for all learners.
